The Glienicke Bridge was well-known during the Cold War as the "Bridge of Spies," as it was the location for spy swaps between East and West. On the Berlin side of the bridge is the charming Schloß (Königstraße 36, Berlin-Wannsee), home of Prince Carl of Prussia and his antiquities collection. We will take part (cost: 8€) in a German-language tour of the Schloß at 11:40 a.m. on Sunday, March 30. It is not possible to book the time-slot or pay in advance on-line, so it is recommended that you arrive at least fifteen minutes before the start of the tour. The tour lasts approximately one hour, after which we will walk across the bridge for lunch at the Garage du Pont on the Potsdam side (Berliner Straße 88, Potsdam). For those not attending the tour, lunch will start at approximately 1:00 p.m. Please note: March 30 is the first day of Daylight Savings Time; be sure to set your clocks one hour ahead the night before. Also, if you are coming by public transport, be sure to check your itinerary on the BVG website in advance; from most parts of Berlin you will need approximately an hour. In most cases, the final leg will involve taking the 316 bus from S-Bhf Wannsee (Kronprinzessinnenweg) to the stop Schloß Glienicke. The tour of the Schloß and the lunch at Garage du Pont are intended as a combined CAA activity, but you can opt to do one or the other if time precludes participating in both.
